Perfect Order’s Pokémon Cards Offer Unexpected Savings

After a tumultuous year and a half filled with packs flying off the shelves—especially the coveted Ascended Heroes—the launch of Perfect Order truly feels refreshing. Retail-priced packs are available once again, bringing hope to collectors. However, I recall similar optimism last year with Journey Together, and with the monumental 30th Anniversary on the horizon, I won’t be surprised if retail-priced packs prove elusive.

Having had the chance to open Pokémon Perfect Order packs early, I emerged with newfound enthusiasm. Initially, I felt underwhelmed by the pre-launch marketing and the Japanese counterpart (Nihil Zero), but opening the boosters shifted my perspective—I found myself enjoying this Zygarde-led expansion. Despite this, it appears scalpers may still be overlooking it, allowing collectors to find Pokémon TCG‘s Perfect Order on store shelves.

Availability might vary by region, but compared to recent stock shortages of Pokémon sets, Perfect Order offers a welcome reprieve. Significantly, a quick glance at Pricecharting shows that market prices for cards and sealed products are aligning with pre-Surging Sparks levels. While prices may still exceed retail, a booster box is now around $200, compared to $300 for Mega Evolutions and a staggering $550 for Destined Rivals. Impressively, it’s even cheaper than Journey Together!

The major chase card, Mega Zygarde ex #120, is hovering around $120 on TCGPlayer and eBay. For perspective, Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex #231 from Destined Rivals commands $505, while Ascended Heroes’ top three chase cards exceed $700. Exciting, right?

Yes, but there’s a caveat. Despite being a solid expansion, many in the community—particularly those who are less enthusiastic about newer videogames—aren’t embracing Perfect Order. Without a Charizard or Pikachu to boost prices, this set notably lacks a standout mascot. Mega Zygarde is cool, but it’s hardly a household name.

Interestingly, the Mega Zygarde ex #124, as the set’s Mega Hyper Rare, is priced at $184, which might seem high, but it’s actually a steal compared to the likes of Ascended Heroes where Mega Charizard Y and Mega Dragonite fetch $513 and $303, respectively. In fact, it’s also noteworthy that this is the most expensive chase card of Perfect Order, breaking from the trend where SIRs were usually the top targets in previous sets.

As you dive into your Perfect Order collection, keep in mind that Pokémon cards are fantastic, but they make poor kindling! Expect things to heat up soon with the 30th Anniversary looming. You won’t be the only collector or scalper eager for retail packs.

This is reminiscent of last year; Journey Together saw inflated secondary market prices pre-launch, followed by a price drop once launched. While this was a relief, things have escalated with Destined Rivals, a standard set with prohibitively priced booster boxes and ETBs. After Journey Together, I really needed that breather.

If history repeats itself—and it usually does—Perfect Order may cultivate a dedicated fanbase willing to invest in completing a master set. Lillie’s Clefairy Ex #184 from Journey Together is currently about $120, almost identical to the Mega Zygarde SIR. Perfect Order seems to mirror the Journey Together experience, but this year’s offerings include Chaos Rising, which many view as relatively lackluster, alongside the much-anticipated 30th Anniversary special set arriving in October. Given these circumstances, Chaos Rising may end up following a similar trajectory as Perfect Order.

So, indulge in the excitement surrounding Pokémon Perfect Order! Rejoice in being able to find it at retail prices and enjoy opening those packs. The upcoming 30th Anniversary celebration could lead to a dramatic increase in demand, with a simultaneous global release anticipated. I can already envision collectors scrambling to secure their purchases. Yikes!

If you’re looking to make the most of this temporary respite, I recommend checking these retailers for Pokémon Perfect Order products. While online stock may be limited, keeping an eye on these links might yield some success:
