However, beneath its charming exterior lies a toxic side, particularly in collecting. The demand for cards has surged, especially since the pandemic, making collecting akin to investing rather than casual play. Scarcity of sets like Prismatic Evolutions has led to scalpers hoarding products, exacerbating competition and frustration for newcomers. While Pokémon’s profit soared in 2023, I find the intense market daunting. Despite my reluctance, I wish fellow collectors luck in their pursuits.
